So my son was dying to paint some shoes with one of his favorite band’s name. After asking me about it for a few weeks (maybe months, but who’s counting) I finally broke down and took him to Earth and Ocean board shop here in Jackson and bought him a shiny new pair of white Vans. Here they are about an hour later.
Did you know that Jackson Signs also does wood carving? Here is a picture of a recent project. The customers name carved in the back of an old rocking chair. If you would like to see some more of our wood carving, go to our website and check it out.
How would you like to win a $100.00 Visa gift card from Jackson Signs?
(to be used anywhere visa is accepted)
Entering is easy, just scan the QR code below with your smart phone, when you get there click “like” then post “QR“. That’s it! The winner will be chosen on August 31.
Don’t have a smart phone?
Don’t worry, we will open this up to the technologically challenged in a few weeks. Stay tuned.
So what is a QR code?
QR stands for ‘Quick Response’. It is a quick response code. In short, it’s a new age barcode that is readable by mobile phones. It’s a quick way to engage a client, customer, or prospective buyer by giving them a call to action that they trigger from their mobile device. In geek speak it would be classified as a ‘print based hypertext link’. You scan this code with your phone and it links you to an internet page. That’s not all though. It can also use other mobile phone apps to allow you to watch a video, download or call a phone number, send a text, or even download GPS directions. The possibilities are really limitless. It allows for a normally static printed message to become something more. Printed brochures now become live websites. Business cards now become instant phone contacts. Typical mailers now become watchable videos. See the impact?
What kind of phone do you need to use these codes?
Most of the newer smart phones have the ability to either scan the codes or allow you to download an app that allows you to scan them. It requires a camera on the phone (to visually scan the code), and an internet connection to download the subsequent content. iPhones, Android devices, Blackberrys or other newer models that allow apps (which by the way is now a staggering 51% of all current mobile phones being used in the US) are able to scan these QR codes.
If you are not familiar with QR code readers, you should note that they all operate different. In many cases you will have to tell the scanner to open the link in the phones browser. For this promotion, your phone will need to be logged into your Facebook account and have access to the internet (fees may apply, check with your provider if you are not sure).
